Parents of young girls at Cincinnati Gymnastics. Here is something you should know. A young woman who was affiliated with Cincinnati Gymnastics left this year “to pursue another career in Chicago.” Well Laurel Sporing’s other “career” consisted mainly of working in a bar so she could hook up with musicians and “partying”. In July she wrote this on her MySpace blog:
Current mood: morose Category: Life
“Things are getting out of hand. I feel like I have totally lost touch with why I am here. Did I uproot my life and move to a new city to party myself into oblivion? I recently had a very intense exchange with the person with whom I thought I might spend the rest of my life. Sucks, man. In addition to scaring the c*** out of me, some of the things that he said are true. He told me that I have been using my looks, charm, and sexuality to get the things that I want in life.”
In fact that was her reputation all around Chicago. A sexed up groupie. And she was totally that when one night in October at Andy’s Bar she met and proceeded to have sex with this saxophone player named David Sanchez.
At first she was bragging about sleeping with him and telling her friends how they were constantly calling and texting each other.
But it is all over the internet message boards that their last meeting went wrong and turned into a Kobe-like situation.
So nobody was real surprised when she posted this on the internet:
11/25/07 9:17AM Talk About It Sexual Assault:
“I can't change what happened to me, but I can help to empower other victims by not being ashamed.
Also, the best therapy was to take action. Not many victims do anything about it.
I want to raise awareness about how common it is, so victims don't feel so alone and potential attackers won't feel like they will go unpunished.
If you have been the victim of sexual assault, reclaim your power by stepping out of the darkness. Do not let these crimes go unnoticed.”
Whatever happened it was enough to make her move back to Loveland to live with her parents. So it’s possible she’ll come looking for a job around the gym. Is this really someone you want teaching your young girls?
